The last session, 'Other related topics' session was full of cool stuff!
Including a discoveryπ
This was the fourth and final part of the paleolimnology session. We heard about Maya megadroughts, cyanobacteria in urban lakes, Colombian maar lakes, and the impact of humans on a protected wetland in Indiaπ»π
Thank you all!!!
The second keynote of the day was about scientific databases, presented by Dr Xavi Benito
Thank you Xavi for explaining the COST Action on open access to paleoecological databases to usβ¨ππΌ
During the third part of the Paleolimnology session, we identified significant potential in using fossil pigments. We also learnt about the use of chironomids in reconstructing natural conditions and the progressive eutrophication trend in Lake Victoria
Congrats to all!! πππ»
Camila Santoja gave the first keynote of the day. She blew us away with her hard work on how lake sediments can distinguish between tectonic and climatic signals over geological timescalesβ°οΈβ¨
Thank you Camila!!!
These were the first two paleolimnology presentations of the day. We travelled from northern Saskatchewan to PatagoniaππΌ
Good job, thank youβ¨
To end the day, we learnt about temperature reconstruction and nutrient distribution based on GDGTs and diatoms, respectivelyπππΌ

Thank you all!β¨ππ»
Dr. Mark Brenner is a truly inspirational figure, as he made clear in today's keynote addressπ»β¨
We also enjoyed seeing all these exotic places he has exploredππΌ
Thank you very much!!!
We are glad that, despite the situation in Iran at the moment, we were able to watch Maryam's recorded presentation.

Our thoughts and strength are with her, her family and people of Iran.
The first part of today's presentation was very interestingβ¨
Our ECRs have managed to work with a lot of dataπͺπ»π»
Today's first Keynote was delivered by Dr. Elisabeth Dietze and Dr. Ann-Kathrin Volmer. It was fascinating to hear their insights on land use in the Ecuadorian Andes from the perspectives of physical and human geography.β¨π»
Thank youuπ€
Many thanks to all the participants!π€

We are amazed by all the different works, which are truly impressiveππ»
Dr. Jonathan delivered the second keynote of the day, which was very inspiring. He took us through his life in the industry and explained why he left to pursue academia and study Lake Izabal.
Thak you ππ»β¨π₯³

We appreciate your hard workπ₯³
Dr. Marta Marchegiano handled our first keynote and gave us some highlights about pursuing a career in academiaβ¨
Thank you Martaππ»
