In general chem i don't remeber the order but we studied oxydoreduction, thermodynamics (!!!!) (We also did this in physics), acids and bases and i know i'm forgetting smth but i hope that already helps a bit 🥹 unfortunately my books were in french so i don't think they'd help

In organic chem it starts with the basics (how are electrons "organized" in an atom, cf. Pauli exclusion principle) and from this we derive the type of bonds that can exist (pi, sigma) and from this the type of reactions to form bonds: electophilic/neurophilic aditions and substitions for instance

I only did a year of med school and it was in france but we had both organic and "physical chemistry" (that back then we just called general chem). In both of these we didnt have any labs, only non-mandatory exercises in which we solved problems as they might be on the exam :)

A brightly colourful illustration of mitosis - the process of cell division. Starting with an orange cell with purple centrosomes, yellow spindles, a magenta nucleus and tangled blue and green chromosomes. As the cycle progresses, the chromosomes line up down the centre of the elongated cell, connected by the spindles to centrosomes at each end. The cell elongates further and starts splitting in to two, ending with two cells nearly identical to the original.

Today’s #FebruArty prompt is ‘divided’ & mitosis feels like an excellent response 🐡

Big update to our tool alevin-fry-atac, for preprocessing of scATAC-seq data (www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...). The main improvements center around optimizations to mapping speed, reaching almost 3x the speed of chromap at 32 threads. Some opts are general & can be backported to sshash!

Analysis of multi-condition single-cell data with latent embedding multivariate regression - Nature Genetics Latent embedding multivariate regression models multi-condition single-cell RNA-seq using a continuous latent space, enabling data integration, per-cell gene expression prediction and clustering-free ...

How to do differential expression with scRNAseq data? State of the art is "pseudo-bulk" analysis with RNA-seq methods like edgeR or DESeq2, where "cell type" is encoded as discrete categories. Biologically, discrete categories are not always the most appropriate concept.(1/3)
