New alt-fire weapon fires Plasma Balls in a wave pattern, complimenting the chain lightning primary attack of the EMA ship.
Really neat old-school trail method - simple offset underlay sprites. CRT flicker effect synced @ 30hz - no particle effects.

SALAMANDER III (WIP 1) A sketch from earlier this summer, in the leadup to Gradius Origins (console/Steam/PC) release. The Lord British starfighter evades laser fire from the core battleship Tetran, as it's swooping tendrils clamp onto meteorites. Dynamic perspective from left to right puts the viewer right in the action.
VIPER vs. BIG CORE Mk II A mock game screen fan-art of the Gradius series: the starfighter Vic Viper avoiding a burst of laser from the large Big Core battleship. They fight in the middle of a furious background of criss-crossing gunfire and explosions as debris floats around them both.

Heavy Ducker, an orange mech with two digitigrade legs, a missile launcher on its back, and a laser cannon mounted to its neck. its spherical weak point, just under its nose, is protected by a thin chrome shield.
this dude is cool. gradius 1 through 4 kind of feel like they're just doing the same thing over and over again but gaiden's got this big guy who just sprays bullets everywhere and rocket skates at you and stuff. really emblematic of the game's willingness to buck the series' traditions

making a list of gamest issues with gradius 1 coverage and lol there was a three issue break between the publication of the loop 3 stages 5 & 6 recovery patterns and the loop 3 stage 7 recovery patterns. i like to imagine it took them 3 full months to figure this shit out (from issue 25)
