It’s great to see #Podcast apps support Transcripts, but autoscroll is not there in most apps. My theory? It’s because dynamic ad insertion is why autoscroll isn’t available which causes challenges to keep text in sync.
What if the apps worked together on this issue? #Metacast #PocketCasts #Castro

Metacast has auto-scroll (but in episodes with dynamic ads, it can drift).

Would love to brainstorm with folks on this!

Hopefully we don’t transition into complete plutocracy (although the signs are certainly there).

For a brief period after the last world wars, some parts of the world experimented with some hippy shit (counter culture). But we have definitely grown out of it now.

Since we invented money, we have always been in oligarchy, in one form or another.

I once (a long long time ago) bought down the entire Amazon Data Warehouse (critical for a lot of things) by running a 500-line SQL for 10 markets in parallel 😬

We (AWS) took big steps to reduce it:

1. Automate processes to eliminate manual work entirely.

2. For rare manual processes (where automation wouldn't yield the ROI), minimize 2P to only the most critical steps.

But at AWS over the years, this went crazy!

Eventually, we realized the crazy amounts of additional work and bureaucracy the 2P rule was causing.

At our startup's scale, this 2P mechanism is perfect to keep moving fast (as we must).

After all, we are literally 2 people 😅
