I make this thread because while I myself cannot draw a stick figure, my closest friends are capable of making the most amazing pictures put to print. For the sake of the future of visual art, please be careful and never be afraid to ask if something is AI— (6/7)

They said they would show me their process, videotape their screen as they drew, desperate to convince me that I hadn’t seen the truth. I simply told them that they protested too much for someone supposedly in the right, and warned them that the next “customer” wouldn’t be as kind (6/?)

I gathered my evidence and returned to the artist, starting with a simple question: “did you use AI in the process of making this?” They immediately grew defensive and said “Of course not” and I sent the evidence that my friends had helped me collect. Even then, the artist refused to budge (5/?)

My friends got back to me, one of whom used the website known as “wasitai.com” to determine these were in fact AI images—even then, those friends were able to share details about things to look out for: “lack of human error,” “too clean,” “inconsistency between panels” etc. etc. (4/?)

I will admit, I do not have the eye to notice AI art over the real deal—only a vibe, and I just got lucky this time. I tend to not make the connection that a computer could be the creator behind a piece of work, because every mistake, even uncanny ones, feels feasible. (3/?)

Then they asked if I wanted to see their commissioned work, and I said “sure!” When I looked closer at the images, I felt something was off. I paused conversation with this artist and consulted two of my close friends who have a more critical eye. (2/?)
