What would one need to do to get an actual meaningful prison sentence in this country?

Will Tony Blair stand down from Trump's Gaza peace committee (or whatever it's called) for the horrific dishonouring of the soldiers that he, Blair, sent to war beside America in the 2000s? He will in his hole.

For the remainder of my life I will be so grateful for the couple of hours I spent side-by-side with our wonderful president in December 2023. I was privileged to experience his wisdom, his charm, his wit and his warmth.

Godspeed Michael D. Higgins. And thank you...

This month's Tipperary's Hidden History on @tippfm.bsky.social was not an easy listen. Another sad perspective on the attitudes of those operating the dreaded workhouse.

Watched a BBC Storyville doc last night on the Christian Evangelical Right in the US & their path to armageddon which only runs through a restoration of Biblical-era Israeli borders. And they are now firmly established on Capitol Hill & in the White House. Utterly depressing.

For me, there's no more fascinating leadership contest in the world. And dramatic.

I agree that local history should be more effectively linked to national contexts in primary & secondary education. For example, who is that street named after and why? Now let's have an honest, unvarnished look at that person. We really should not shy away from the difficult questions.

So their views were developed for opportunistic, transactional purposes? And there is obviously the conundrum of applying modern moral principles to a history we can't change. Do we reduce it to a 'they didn't know any better' excuse, or hold them responsible for their dark ideals? It's fascinating.

I never wanted to be accused of wokeism or cancel culture. But Mitchel is already very well documented in history but I wanted to know how people felt about continuing to 'honour' him by having his name on their address or GAA club. I still wonder, Emma.
