I have my 9th grade students pick a black poet every Black History Month to study and do a project on. I teach all boys and mostly white boys. Every year more than one boys picks you to study. Honestly, they taught ME about you.

I think this was my first cosplay? I took two squares of plaid flannel and safety pinned them at the waist, so I had a skirt just like the image (yes it is a skirt!). I made myself black leggings to wear underneath (we didn't call them leggings back then). Went to the show in it 1987? maybe '86?

MS has made me scared of driving. I started taking the bus to work. I forgot how much people think there is something wrong if you ride the bus. "what are you doing?" "Are you ok?" "Do you need a ride?" Actually, riding the bus gives me freedom at a time when I'm losing freedom to MS.

I bought my self a tiara a few years ago. It is small and has a bat as the center. I am a (high school) teacher, and I wore it to school. No one was impressed. I think I should go back to wearing it this year. So underrated.
