I'm coming back to this conversation after months because I just came across @nancyduarte.bsky.social's framing of explanatory as a step further from exploratory, adding value really. I personally feel this disregards the work of exploratory viz, but I'm curious to hear what other folks think 📊

Interesting! This is a simple search for Uruguay and Costa Rica 😜. There's been a clear rise, although sometimes it's hard to grasp the magnitude because of how Google trends' public data works.
But it's definitely also on the rise!
