The DAM automatically generates the VTT data from audio and video files when they’re uploaded, which is huge for us given the volume of content we’ll end up storing in it.

The WebVTT files? None. I created one manually as a plain text file just for the experience. Our organization is testing a new digital asset management system, and the video player will receive the WebVTT data from its API as JSON.

Did you know you can do `height: stretch` now in CSS? Works for `width` too. /via @patrickbrosset.com

Working on a video gallery page using Video.js and having fun creating WebVTT files to use for captions and transcripts, which I’d never done before. It’s a great learning experience. #a11y

Sony Music Sues Napster, Claiming $9M in Unpaid Music Royalties β€” Billboard Decades after lawsuits from record labels killed the infamous file-sharing service, Sony says Napster’s legal descendant is still flouting copyright law.

Final cost of the gaming PC I built with my son ended up being ~$1,825 overall. We were originally aiming for something in the area of $1,000. May have gotten a little carried away. Fun experience, though. Something I’d never done before. Curious now what the average cost is for most people.

I know not everyone will agree, especially coding purists, but Cursor makes advanced rapid prototyping a breeze. And it’s only going to get better.

The gaming PC is done, and my son says it’s the best gaming experience he’s ever had. He bought a 27” 1440 monitor last night with a 280Hz max refresh rate, and that made a huge difference. He’s not ready to go all in on a 4K OLED just yet. Too expensive yet.

Software installation in progress on my son’s new gaming PC. I forget that you have to install more than just Windows, even LAN and WiFi drivers need to be installed. I’m guessing Bluetooth will as well. I’ll find out soon enough. What a great learning experience this has been, though.

Almost done building my son’s custom gaming PC. Ended up needing extensions for the front fans that aren’t reaching the motherboard, but those should arrive today. We’ll be ready to go for software installation as soon as we have those in place.

One last piece - the enclosure - arrives tomorrow. Then the assembly of my son’s first gaming PC will finally begin.

Looks like #Apple has listened to the uproar from the accessibility community. They’ve added a bit more frost to their Liquid Glass UI design. It’s giving me macOS X Aqua vibes, though. #a11y

Oof. My first Newegg purchase will likely be my last Newegg purchase. I don’t think I’ve even seen an Amazon package delivered in worse shape. New processor floating around unprotected in a box that looks like it was stepped on. I’m becoming less and less of a fan of online shopping.

Found a deal on a refurbished PSU. Double checking compatibility of components and getting enclosure recommendations from ChatGPT, too. Hopefully that doesn’t end badly.

One of my favorite children’s books that I read growing up was β€œThe Fire Cat” by Esther Averill, and the main character was a cat named Pickles. I always think of that when I hear about a cat names Pickles.
