I eventually got moved into a lower set and things started to make sense, but maths still makes me nervous.. In the UK you can't advance academically unless you have a C in GCSE maths and english. I had a friend in sixth form who had to retake it twice while we were all preparing for uni.

I was put in the top set for everything because I was good at english. Our maths teacher would give us really difficult, advanced work, so in year 7 we were doing maths problems meant for year 9. It made him look very impressive, and i was just floundering in every single lesson
