Math Discussers had children who spoke more about math. Parent math talk styles did not relate to childrenβs math or language skills. These results encourage the use of person-centered approaches to understand the nuances of how parents talk about math with their children.
20.11.2023 17:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I identified 3 styles of parent math talk from observations of parents interacting with their 4 year old children. Math Commentators used mostly math statements, Math Elicitors used mostly math questions, and Math Discussers used a mix of both.
