I'm rather fond of Psychedelic Jukebox. It streams sixties and early 70s music, but the thing is, I can listen to it for hours and only have heard about a quarter of the music they play before. So much is new music, to me. They'll devote a whole day to garage bands. Might be worth a try.

I dropped out and joined the Navy Band about two and a half years in. Once I twigged how much more money I'd make as a Navy musician compared to a starting band directors salary, it was all over.
