The Mummyโ€™s CURSE Exposed: King Tut, Lord Carnarvon & The Media Hoax "Death shall come on swift wings to him that touches the tomb of the Pharaoh." โšฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ It is the most famous warning in history. When Howard Carter cracked open the seal of King Tutankhamunโ€™s tomb in 1922, he revealed the greatest treasure the world had ever seen. But did he also unleash an ancient evil? Within months, the expedition's financier, Lord Carnarvon, was dead. The lights in Cairo mysteriously went out. A canary was eaten by a cobra. The world was convinced: The Mummyโ€™s Curse was real. But what if the "Curse of the Pharaohs" wasn't created by an ancient priest, but by a jealous journalist? In this episode, we open the files on the 1922 excavation to separate the gold from the lies. We explore Howard Carterโ€™s diaries and the real cause of Lord Carnarvonโ€™s death (spoiler: it involves a razor and a mosquito, not a ghost). We reveal how a media war between the London Times and rival reporters like Arthur Weigall invented the curse to sell papers. We also dive into the strange involvement of Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who used his influence to turn a medical tragedy into a supernatural sensation, and debunk the separate folklore of the British Museumโ€™s "Unlucky Mummy." Weโ€™re digging up the truth on: The Post Hoc Fallacy: Why bad timing isn't the same as a curse. The Media Hoax: How "Fake News" was born in the Valley of the Kings. The Science: How an infected insect bite became a global legend. Grab your flashlight and your skepticism. Weโ€™re going into the tomb. ๐ŸŽง Press PLAY to break the curse and discover the history they didn't teach you in school!

Crows were originally white and sacred to Apollo who sent one to spy on his unfaithful lover, the mortal princess Coronis. When the crow returned with news of her infidelity, Apollo, in a fit of rage, scorched the bird's feathers, turning all crows black as punishment.

DVD cover of a complication of the Gen X TV series "Magpie" with its black and white logo and theme tune, a groovy version of the traditional rhyme: "One for sorrow, two for joy, Three for a girl, four for a boy, Five for silver, six for gold, Seven for a secret never to be told".
It can continue with: "Eight for a wish, nine for a kiss, Ten for a bird you must not miss"

'Seven for a secret' ... Magpies have an ambivalent role in folklore, their plumage a combination of darkness and light. They are trickster figures and those who encounter a flash of their feathers never know which aspect is for them, sorrow or joy: perhaps both #WyrdWednesday

A charm in the form of a pendant inscribed with seven Greek vowels arranged in the form of a pyramid.

The Seven Greek Vowels.
This talisman was a great favourite in olden times, and was composed of the Seven Vowels of the Greek alphabet. The desired favours were supposed to be granted upon the correct utterance of the forty-nine different sounds of the Seven Vowels, each vowel having seven distinct methods of expression.
Among the many benefits supposed to be conferred were Good health, happiness, wisdom, fortune, foresight, success in all undertakings, complete protection from moral, as well as physical ills, and control over the powers of darkness.
The ancients thought that there was an affinity between the Seven Vowels and the seven planets which they believed kept this earth in existence.

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Sun & Moon? I think that Neptune, Uranus & Pluto were not known.
