These guys . . . That one even thinks that such a comment should be worked into remarks at the opening of the “esteemed” Board of Peace is basically evidence of consciousness of guilt.

sometimes you want to think it is just incompetence, but everything becomes so much easier to explain if you assume corruption

Somebody must have videos from clips in June of 2020 where protesters were marching past seas of people standing outside their houses armed to the hilt, right?

Let him who has never suffered bruising so deep from shaking hands that he was forced to subject his other hand to similar levels of handshakes and bruising cast the first stone.

I don’t remember it being taught—but neither do I remember it being discourage. I did it somewhat instinctively because I wanted the feedback on my shot from the ball in flight. I ask players to do it while practicing—especially when they are spot shooting—to pickup feedback.

Things that sound like they make sense if you don’t pause—or aren’t capable of pausing—to think about them and are easy to repeat, sounding like something that one might say, last forever—zombie ideas if you will. You can’t go to a youth baseball game without a dozen parents yelling level swing.

Being taught something doesn’t mean that it is correct. i would guess most coaches just teach what they were taught.

He lifts and repositions his right foot (pivot foot) before starting the dribble at the top of the key as much or more as he does on the step through on the wing. The pivot foot is treated differently when shooting/passing than when initiating dribble.

The step after the gather establishes the pivot foot as the right foot. He can ”step” with his left as much as he wants to after that. There is no limit to how many times a player can pivot.

I’ll concede the repositioning of the pivot foot, but that’s not what causes the uproar. If it was, everyone would be equally upset by what happens at the top of they when he gets the bal!

Even with NBA/FIBA gathering step/zero step rule, traveling still comes down to when the pivot foot is established.

09.12.2025 19:16 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

There is another thread that captures the whole sequence in screenshots. He completes the gather in the air, making gather step left foot down. I don’t necessarily like the rule and if you want to object to the rule, fine, but I don‘t see how else to interpret it.

09.12.2025 19:16 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

Right foot is pivot foot, steps to the left with his left (right still pivot foo), then steps through back to the right with his left (right foot still pivot foot, though he repositions it, but that isn’t the objection or otherwise people would notice the travel at the top of key before dribblin)

09.12.2025 18:50 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I think he is in the process of gathering here and left foot down is zero step. Next step is right foot that establishes right foot as pivot foot. He can then step as many times as he wants with his left.

I don’t like the rule, but that’s how I think it is interpreted shrug.

If you want to say that the travel is on the repositioning of the pivot foot on the step through, then that’s fine. But that is not what people are objecting to or what makes it seem like an egregious travel. That repositioning doesn’t stand out in real time.

When do you think pivot foot is est.?

09.12.2025 18:13 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

A step is not a changing of the pivot foot because you aren’t allowed to change your pivot foot!

09.12.2025 18:00 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Nobody has commented on the footwork at the top of the key immediately after he receives the ball! To my mind, that repositioning and lifting the pivot foot before he starts the dribble is more egregious in real speed than the repositioning over at the wing on the step through.

09.12.2025 17:39 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

For instance, I think he repositions pivot foot before and appears to travel before he gets the dribble down after receiving the pass at the top of the key, but no one comments or objects to that.

09.12.2025 17:29 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

There are many more egregious repositioning of the pivot foot travels in every level of b-ball every night, especially at a frame-by-frame level.

I’ll grant that Allen repositions the pivot foot on the step through, but it does not stand out in real time and it is not what people objecting to.
