One of my favorite flow offense actions is Cleveland's quasi Horns Flare, especially to an empty corner

After the ATO yields nada, Lonzo feeds Mitchell, chases his pass, and then gets a flare from Jarrett Allen

And on a night without Garland, Lonzo's secondary playmaking is very necessary

On the very next play, the Cavs' defense also uses a nail stunt,
but Brunson is getting the Trae Young treatment and can't hit the three to punish the stunt

I like how Cleveland already has a counter to the rise of nail stunting (Mikal, blue circle, stunts at the ball after Mobley hands it off)

Cleveland's off-ball players, Lonzo & Jaylon Tyson, fan out and basket cut, drawing in the defender of Mobley, who pops for a 3

Of course, even the two options of that BLOB come AFTER this common 2-3 zone beater

And there's another option after the BLOB

In other words, Bill Self might be good at coaching (I first saw this lob set with Kansas, but I don't know for sure whether he invented the play)

The play hinges on how x3 reacts to 1 getting the ball back near the far slot

If x3 chases 1, then 2 will be open for a corner three

But if x3 does NOT chase 1 and stays home to stop 2, then 4 & 5 have a two-on-one against x5

(We gave up SEVERAL threes before the lob came lol)

As a Kansas homer coaching HS in NYC, I loved watching our opponent bust this lob play out against us

It's a great example of how defending the 1st option leaves the defense vulnerable to the 2nd (the lob)

Me: "Oh shit! I love this play! ...oh shit...."

I'll post the diagram itself as a reply
