Who knew that Leeds Other Paper had a Jersey correspondent? I think this was their first and last appearance, on the occasion of the National Union of Mineworkers taking its 1979 annual conference to the coalfields of the, er, Channel Islands. Yorkshire delegates were not best pleased.

Tony's Alternative Journalism, Alternative Voices is the tremendous story, disguised for academia, of how, once upon a time, Leeds Other Paper did proper local journalism - glued together, printed in a garage, sold initially in pubs. The almanac can but look back in awe.

Absolutely. The fabulous LOP was mentioned at Tony's funeral.

I can't walk through that particular bit of Leeds now without seeing Leeds Other Paper's Meanwood suspension bridge - had to go in the Yorkshire Almanac. They did so much other good stuff too - unimaginable now.

The Art of Fanzine Cover Art
Art is famously very subjective; โthe expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated โฆ
It's Thursday and that can mean only one thing; a new blog is up. This week we consider the purest form of art, fanzine covers. Renaissance, impressionism, cubism..none of that muck here but surrealism & abstract expressionism were never far away in zines.
