Arrest after cyclist pushed off Sandown seawall on Isle of Wight The woman, in her 60s, had been cycling along Culver Parade in Sandown, police say.

This is the second such story in a couple of days.

I often think how easy it would be for someone to shove me into the road when I’m cycling.

The design of our infra (shared paths, low social safety) and the intersection of anti-bike culture & misogyny enable this.

Staff assaulted in Epping in 'racially aggravated' attack Two hotel workers are left with serious injuries as a result of the attack during a protest.

Staff at the Epping hotel were left seriously injured in a racially aggravated attack

It seems that the violent criminal 'protestors' responsible may have mistaken the hotel staff for asylum seekers

Obviously threats + violence against asylum seekers or staff is wrong

It is generating intimidation and threats + some violence against refugees, migrants & minorities, hotel workers + others

that (i) some people feel they can threaten, intimidate, harass or attack asylum seekers [obviously wrong in itself]

+ (ii) apply that sweepingly to people who look foreign

Nick Timothy MP has criticised the police for protecting a man delivering food to a hotel from intimidation + violence. He + Max Tempers both seem to assume they can intuit immigration status (that he must be an asylum seeker without the right to work) simply from a man's appearance (ethnicity)
