Will keep saying it, Norgaard should have played way more.

You can’t tell me a player who has been a consistent solid PL midfielder for a mid table team over three seasons couldn’t have eased the burden placed on Zubi’s shoulders.

The lack of minutes is a disrespect to him imo.

Shades of Pepe/Saka vs Sheffield United (A) in 2021 with Noni/Saka today.

Delightful watch

Was great seeing Saka/Eze twin 10’s wasn’t it, even if we caveat the opposition.

I’d like to see that vs Wolves!

Arsenal's long ball insistence plays into Brentford's hands Chaos commences when the ball is in the air

Take a look at the two goal-kick scenarios.

Both involve Brentford pressing M2M, with Raya going long.

However, the latter didn't require a long ball. And going long too often was an issue.

Still believe Eze would excel through the left given how Trossard has interpreted the role.

However, I also want to see Havertz CF/Eze nominally RCM too. It gives us the option to play through pressure due to having a tailored between the lines presence and obviously the option to play long.

Not what I would do, but almost certain Mikel will as he will believe the aforementioned duo provide the necessary threat going forward, but also add height to compete with the physicality of Brentford. And both are top in defensive set piece situations; Gyokeres has defended the front post well.

Brentford (A). Huge emphasis on long balls, with an onus on competing for the loose ball. Big focus on long throw-ins, direct restarts and set pieces.

Arteta will view it similarly to Leeds (A) and for that reason, I’m adamant he goes with Gyokeres CF/Kai RCM, nominally. Everything else as it is.

Same-side principles prise open Black Cats Overloaded and, eventually, overcome

Mikel Arteta is a staunch proponent of the β€˜same side’ concept, a phrase used by Declan Rice.

And it was our left flank which made the difference.

You may not value the OOP work but coaches do. Against Chelsea, Martinelli towards the end consistently tracked Garnacho and denied crosses from entering the box and Trossard was quick to double up on Estevao with Hincapie whilst also pushing out to pressure Fofana.

Want to give a massive shoutout to Trossard and Martinelli btw for their efforts this season so far.

13 G/A for the former and 12 G/A for the latter in all competitions.

And Mikel has complete trust in both, irrespective of the game state. That’s why they always feature...

I rewatched the game back last night and I revise my MOTM.

Rice definitely first, Hincapie second. Rice again, just an absolute animal. Won all second balls, dominated his space that had Caicedo/Palmer/Gusto all at times in there.

Didn’t give Palmer space in the pocket

05.02.2026 22:04 β€” πŸ‘ 13    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Hincapie hands down MOTM. Defensively incredible. Padlocked Delap before dealing with Estevao.

And it may go unnoticed, but his composed header to Trossard in the build up to Kai’s dagger was brilliant. In that context, it’s so easy to just head it anywhere and clear your lines.

Second ball success The key minor adjustment in Declan Rice's role

Controlling Elland Road isn't easy, but I thought we managed to do so because of some minor adjustments made in our press, most notably with Declan Rice's role.

Saliba and Gabriel gave a clinic on how to deal with Calvert-Lewin today.

Been one of the best CFs this season and he had absolutely no joy whatsoever.

Professional performance today

Elland Road isn’t an easy place to go. Been stressed all week about this game but we dealt with it comfortably.

Was vital to stop the rot in the PL. Top job
