Yeah, it's absolutely not easy to be vegan and eat healthy.
For me as a vegetarian it's quite easy on the other hand. I bulk buy dry soy, lentils, etc. Much cheaper and more convenient than buying & preparing meat too.
The rest is the same food as everyone else.

I'm big on milk and yogurt especially. Cheese I'm a bit more selective, but I'd absolutely miss it on a lot of dishes, especially pizza.

Did I mention yet that I love dairy? :)
01.02.2026 13:07 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0
It's being done to children as well, with vegan parents having zero clue about what a growing child needs.
At least if you're vegetarian you got dairy and everything. Add heaps of soy & some B6/12 supplements and you're golden.

Oh yes, that's why I feel that vegetarians are cool, but vegans are the cult.
Plenty of solid, scientific reasons to not eat meat & fish as an omnivore, but veganism can really backfire in spectacular ways.
And carnivores are carnivores, ffs.

Iz food, will eat.
Having moral qualms about whether it's 'ethical' to eat certain foods is definitely a human thing.
Of course, that kind of selectivity also means that we are less at risk of extinction from eating all our prey animals. Theoretically.

Unless you're a plant, of course. Then you're more into elemental nutrients.
Unless unless you're a carnivorous plant and snack on everything from flies to rodents.
Best to be at the apex of the food chain, I guess.

Only point you could reasonably make that it's more like carrion that humans eat, as they're not really into the habit of eating fresh kills any more.
But consuming the muscle & other tissues of other critters for sustenance is... definitely a food thing.

Yeah, pretending that they're the same is silly.
Should just go for cruelty-free bioreactor-grown meat in that case. Can enjoy all the meat texture and flavour that way and still be a vegan :)

Main reason why I have been a vegetarian since I was ten years old is because meat and fish taste horribly to me. Not having animals die for my food is a nice bonus to me.
Correspondingly I also loathe 'meat replacement' products that pretend to be meat or fish.

It's almost as if putting "pragmatic business relationships" ahead of "ethical considerations" isn't, in the long term, pragmatic or even good for business.

Love how Firefox has a massive, unpatched memory leak in its 'GPU' process, which means that of course Waterfox has it too.
Was wondering where GBs af RAM were vanishing off to, but the GPU process apparently doesn't show up as part the browser.
Shift+Esc, kill GPU process, got back 4 GB.

There's also a reason why properly funding public schools is such a contentious topic, as the benefits of an informed populace would render them less malleable.
Less conspiracy and more of a government skepticism take, I think :)

Yeah, I didn't quite mean it in a black-white kind of scenario where 'eat the rich' is a valid argument.
There's a lot of nuance to go around, but I think the point is valid that a lot of political warfare is pointless and counterproductive, fueled by certain parties interested in the status quo.

'Democrat' and 'Republican' flip meaning every few decades, with 'left' and 'right' in politics being equally ambiguous.
Being anti-vaxx used to be 'left-wing', now it's mostly 'right-wing'.
But please keep vilifying the imaginary enemy. The Haves love that.

What the recent partial release of the DoJ Epstein files makes abundantly clear again is how it's all about the Haves and Have-Nots. Not 'left' vs 'right'.
The Haves would love for us Have-Nots to keep bickering amongst ourselves which imaginary side is to blame, instead of focusing on the Haves.

My favorite is the totally not Dark Souls "game" where the UI literally says Estus Flask + 10.
Totally unique game that is no way derivative or copied pixel by pixel from FromSoft.

So it's basically just OpenAI's Sora, but more interactive?
