Bringing friends also adds to the number of people at the event, making the protest even more effective. 2. WEAR A MASK Protesting safely in the age of COVID-19 requires that you wear a mask to protect yourself and your fellow protesters. Ideally, you should use a surgical mask or N-95 mask, if you can obtain them. 3. DRESS ACCORDINGLY While protesting, you may be outside for hours. Make sure you bring layered clothing so you're prepared for both cold weather and tear-gas, which can irritate your skin. If you're worried there might be gas, bring goggles and heat-resistant gloves. 4. PACK A BAG Once in a street protest, you may be unable to get necessities until the march ends. Make sure you have a day's supply of water and snacks, as well as a first aid kit. You should also bring pocket change, cash, and your ID. 5. CONTACT A NON-PARTICIPANT Before going to the protest, make sure you have a non-participant you can use as an emergency contact. 6. MARCH IN FORMATION While marching, stay close to the group. 7. AVOID CONTACT LENSES AND MAKEUP Never wear contact lenses when protesting. Contacts can absorb tear gas and cause direct irritation to your eye, even when the gas is gone. Oil based makeups can also trap teargas and cause long-term irritation. 8. AVOID LOOSE ITEMS Avoid wearing anything that can be grabbed or pulled. That includes jewelry, rings, and chains. If you have long hair, make sure it is tied back.

A Minnesota woman observing ICE agents in her car was cornered on one-way streets. An agent approached, called her by name—citing facial recognition. Days later, her Global Entry and TSA privileges were revoked, with no explanation.

ICE activity has not noticeably tapered off yet here and in fact this week they seem to be focused on terrorizing kids at bus stops and schools.

During California's Prop 50 election, we anticipated the tactics. I was one of dozens of volunteer attorneys staged throughout the state to go to polling locations if such tactics were tried. There were very few incidents and those handled. I expect more in 2026.

This giant ICE Army they are building this year is also likely to be at polling places during the midterms in heavily Democratic precincts with the excuse being that they are looking for “illegals trying to vote.”

Died in ICE Custody / Were Killed by ICE Many “died by apparent suicide,” or were “suddenly unresponsive.” How many internal injuries were from detainment and/or violence in the prisons themselves, and how many of them were from guards? One was determined to be a homicide from compression to the chest and neck. We have seen footage of how violent ICE goons are, and how they are taking people down. Several people who died had been previously accused of crimes, but they had done their time and were trying to lead their lives. They were not accused of new crimes. A few were reported detoxing. One man, an Iman, was convicted of fraud, but family and friends think that he may not have understood the application entirely. In almost all the cases, medical neglect seems apparent. Many families report that the detainees were healthy before going to prison/detention centers. None are listed as having been served judicial warrants.
