My God. They CANNOT simply exclude costs to create a profit margin!!! That’s not accounting, that’s, well, that’s fraud (in certain settings) or at least fluff and nonsense meant to snare investors into sinking cash into a dream in exchange for equity that likely won’t be worth anything. Insanity

I hope so, but I feel that the current college football structure will make it a long term project. Now that kids can (rightfully) get paid even if they ride the bench, why not go to a super-Star school and hope to turn a third-string role into a decent career?

It’s not profitable, but it’s all the tech companies have. There is no other “next big thing” with possible universal appeal so they are going to ride this train right off the cliff.

This goes back to the writer’s strike. Immediate and deferred compensation hinges in part on the amount of episodes created, as does some IP contracts (read:more compensation). Studio execs have been ruthless at cutting costs, primarily to behind-the scenes creatives.

A high yield savings account (even if he just made monthly contributions at %5 interest compounded annually)
Would have made him approximately $1800. But where is the fun in that?

The YA market has EXPLODED in the past decade or so and is one of the more reliable drivers of physical book sales, and a reliable creator of life-long book buyers.
Just stunning ignorance.

Yet another example of a way AI is being used that virtually no one wants! It’s amazing how many untold billions have been burnt on what is ostensibly a consumer product without consulting consumers!

Feels like this company is just a cut-out designed to feed large amounts of cash to sub-contractors who (were they to be directly awarded the funds) would perhaps draw negative public attention.

I’ve always wondered what the telecom companies gain by allowing this to continue? Because labeling every auto dialer “spam likely” doesn’t improve the quality of their service, or make it more appealing to potential customers.

What’s (perhaps) worse is that a group of very smart people have already figured this out and some of them are being paid a lot of money to plan an escape route for their very wealthy clients.

Considering the horrific damage crypto causes to the environment and the cover it provides for evil people and regimes, you would think more people would abhor the entire concept.
But, people love to gamble on flashy tech stuff they don’t really understand.
