I have a lot of hope that politicians like Andy Beshear can help turn our country around, but I do not think praying for the rule of law is going to be enough. We need to defend it and show how the erosion of rule of law makes us poorer and less safe at home and in the world. Dems get to work!

This is the kind of common sense protection of our communities and our democracy that every representative should stand behind. We need more of these kinds of solutions from the Dems and from Congress.

You don't have to be a person of faith to understand the value of kindness and forgiveness. Hate creates hate, true. But is also does not create happiness. You can't hate your way to a better life. This is a moment in time where we have to be strong in standing up to those who preach hate.

We have been hounding Trump for years, impeached him multiple times, even won prosecutions against him. But he is still tearing this country to shreds. Maybe it is time to shift our focus. Maybe it is time to talk about what real prosperity is and how we can create it. Dems, your move.

Trickle down never worked and never will. It is nothing but fake messaging to hide bad economics.

It is long past time we stopped focusing on Trump alone and start getting folks to look at what drives our descent into polarization & stagnation. Having a few huge and unaccountable media conglomerates control what we see and what we know is a recipe for breeding subservience and narrow mindedness.

Well I am happy Iger/ABC/Disney reinstated Kimmel. But they won't get this subscriber back so easily. Trust broken is trust broken and it will take a stronger push-back than this to get me back.

Sometimes the only thing to do is the small thing you can do. I cancelled Disney+ yesterday and sent an email to Bob Iger letting him know that for this former subscriber, protecting the First Amendment is far more important than what Disney/ABC sells. Join me.

This is what we continue to need to shout from the rooftops. The Republican fraud of the American people is as brazen as it is cruel and damaging. All the Republicans have ever done is make income inequality worse. That is their DNA.

Like so many others, I send gratitude for your work on behalf of the American people. Your firing is another step down the ladder into the pit of dysfunction 47 and the R's have created.

The Republican attack on truth continues. Don't like the reality of climate change? Eliminate the finding it causes human health harm. Don't like the jobs numbers? Fire the civil servant who prepares them. This is the way to keep us in the dark and drunk on misinformation.

I still can not believe this is the world we live in today. Trump and R's literally want to burn down and drown the world so a handful of fossil fuel companies can keep cashing checks. Where are the D's, where is the pushback? This nightmare continues until we learn to fight harder and smarter.

I imagine most of us have felt a similar despair. And still we get up the next day and do what we can to tilt a crazy world towards sanity. I feel like I am watching a dystopian novel being written every day on the front page of the papers--but I refuse to let the deniers write the final chapter...

It used to be said that sex sells, these days it more like lies, conspiracies, and hate outsell everything. Bloggers, bloviators, and headline writers have only one job--grab and hold our eyeballs. When ICE is masked and the rest of us are not we simple give them permission to be unaccountable vigilantes. It is clear that Trump is not interested in law and order as much as command and control. He wants to break us. It will never happen.

We all want our health care system to work better. This bill did noting to promote that. It puts millions at risk of losing coverage so big tax breaks can go to people who do not need them. The truth is we need our elected representative to actually represent us, our kids, and our grandkids.

I could not agree more. As a life-long Dem, I have never felt our party to be weaker or more lost. We desperately need real vision, leadership, and a dedication to service over self-interest. Show us you care more about our collective future than your reelection.

Fair enough. I just hope there is room here on Bluesky and in our movement for different perspectives and approaches. Nature thrives on diversity and so to, I think, do political movements.

I definitely get it. I just wonder what line we should be holding? The more we focus on Trump the person, the more we feed his and MAGAs sense of persecution. That in turn causes them to dig in harder. My gut says Americans are want someone to stand & deliver what they voted for--jobs, lower prices.

I have a different take. Impeachment efforts that can not result in actual removal from office are just fuel for the MAGA fire. They are performative in a way that reinforces the Dems do not have a real plan. I'd rather have all the Dems stand up and declare what they stand for and fight for that.

I stand with my daughters and women everywhere to say that the Government of the United States has no business telling women about their bodies. This terrible decision turned back the clock by 100 years and makes it clear just how much work we have to do to repair the damage of Dobbs.

100% agree. It is also putting the focus in the wrong place. Trump is awful, but his policies and actions are destroying America. Let's draw a bright line between America under Trump and America protected, educated, employed, and moving forward under Democrats v2.
