11.06.2025 06:09 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0almost any conf i walked into would have mikeal with a warm welcome and good cheer waiting, even when i was quite new and still finding my footing in the community. thanks mikeal. it meant more than i ever told you
10.06.2025 17:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0sending hugs. i'm so sorry
10.06.2025 17:01 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0somehow, of all the times we'd seen each other (most at confs, etc), my strongest memory is just walking the length of a whole bunch of manhattan together while shooting the shit. no reason i can remember, but i was fairly new to the city and it built up my map of the place
10.06.2025 16:51 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0i have no words. what a loss

06.05.2025 05:31 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0i'm not sure what unison-lang.org does for circular structures (all the data structures in the language are merkleised, including functions), but i assume they treat it similarly
06.05.2025 03:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0you can equivalently view this kind of swizzling for circularity as just providing a fixpoint combinator: fix(ฮปx. cons("foo", x))
so you can de bruijn encode these kinds of things, and similarly treat non-circular linking as function application ("dependency injection")
@fasterthanli.me by the way, thank you for the ktls work! i'm not using ktls directly, but i rely on the key extraction APIs and used ktls as a reference for wiring them up
14.11.2024 02:25 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0i feel like what it's really showing is that following is engagement + engagement-of-follower is autocorrelated
you could stratify by duration of follow for a little bit of improvement maybe
those aren't my cycles so i use them with reckless abandon
13.11.2024 19:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0i've learnt that the problem with becoming a perf guy is that it will haunt you for every line of code you write, for the rest of your life
occasionally this completely incapacitates me because i'm overly aware of just how many cycles i'm burning
you have completed one of my todo list items, thank you
