"As out of fashion as it is to talk this way, we are all really in this together. Academia and industry do different things most of the time, and we each benefit from that. And that’s why the silence from industry about what’s going on with the NIH et al. is so infuriating."

The HUB will have a call for $100,000 pilot grants! Coming to the HUB meeting is not a pre-requisite to win a pilot grant, but it could allow you to make new connections for collaborative teams toward the grants.

There is something about a haka that is absolutely undeniable. It’s embodied resistance to colonization that is completely alive & a source of strength & determination. It’s a practice that reminds these people of their power. They blocked this bill that would have rolled back indigenous rights.

This is terrible. To me, this is a signal that the department chair does not care about their colleague. I would also write a great letter but I will also add that the department chair needs to do more to support their colleagues in the letter.

Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly building a $100M Hawaii compound with a huge underground bunker

I read an article that always haunted me about a humanist tech writer who met with the "ultra wealthy" thinking they would want to know how to use their vast wealth and power to avoid a climate disaster.

Instead they all wanted to know how best to insulate themselves from it
