I dunno, from the description of the writing I can see it. If the character acts like a small child all through the book, it’s going to appeal to people who want to fantasize about having sex with a small child.

They also live in a bubble that tells them they're a) a majority of the people and b) that what they do is very popular with everyone. So if anyone's hating on them, they have to be doing because they're paid to do so, and not because this stuff is actually, y'know, *bad*.
