But for real, check it out. At some point years ago I did a trip where I compared the prices of everything I could get at Aldi to the store brand at the regular store and worked out what I saved by shopping at Aldi and it was a lot. Like it added up to like $30-50 in a single weekly trip.

What I truly go to Aldi for is the produce. I like berries and eat way more fruit if I buy a big pile of berries each week.

Also fancy cheese. And for our Valentine's Day dinner I bought a couple frozen lobster tails and did surf-and-turf (the steaks were in the freezer from a purchase two years ago of 1/4 cow which we've been slowly working our way through)

My weekly shopping trip is always two stops because once I'd gotten used to Aldi prices I absolutely could not go back

I want to write a blog post on visiting the cities and all the events that people could come for at different points in the spring/summer: Mayday Parade, Cat Tour, Pencil Sharpening, Fringe Festival...

Thinking about this more and I genuinely think they should do it. Pick a specific date, fund 1,000 block parties around the city, advertise it a month in advance, welcome tourists to come and eat and party with us. It would work!!

I mean, fair enough. If they're branded as Official Olympic Condoms I am CONFIDENT that everyone wanted a handful (at minimum) to bring home as a souvenir.

If I ever had a friend going to the Olympics I would send him or her with a LARGE box of condoms on the grounds that if they're not going to bang anyone that's fine, they can be the Condom Fairy for all their friends.

One of the things I find kind of fascinating about the Olympics is that the VAST majority of athletes who go, know with a high degree of certainty that they're not going to medal. They're there because they MADE IT TO THE OLYMPICS and they're going to do their best, and make new friends.

You know what's wild is that when I wrote that story in 2015 I had never actually used St. Paul Corner Drug and just wanted a nice local business that seemed plausible in that spot in the story.

Something pretty cool about getting vaccinated there: if you are concerned about COVID exposure they'll come vaccinate you in your car. I have several friends who come from Minneapolis for just that reason. ❤️
