A new piece is just beginning to take shape...

(3 of 3) As I thought about the laundry, and doing dishes the joy I noted was muted. I remembered 2 things. 1. That I can take a moment, breathe, and NOT do laundry. 2. That I have bookclub tonight. Joy rekindled. Note: Remember to breathe, and always have a bookclub in your back pocket.

(2 of 3) ... a volunteer meeting here, being extraordinary at my "make a living" job as artist sometimes have as I cannot help but set myself to high standards, a gallery meeting there, dashing in-between at every possible point to shower love on my kids and husband.

This Saturday morning, my mind clicking into place the to-do list as I sat trying to wake up and shed the fog, my mood is stressed. This week had been 10 to 12 hour days, and not with painting but with good and necessary work (1 of 3)

There is beauty in darkness too.

I'm a Pacific Northwest girl. I love the grey sky, and moody clouds.

Anyone else write poetry on the back of their paintings? Each time I paint it's exposing my thoughts visually. The writing comes with it and belongs to that work. I kind of love that it waits there in secret until someone buys it and it comes off the gallery wall and is revealed.

Almost finished with this piece. 87 hours in, 3x4 ft canvas.

Progress shot, the red is slowly replaced by blues and greens, providing a warm glow behind them. The forest is growing.

The Psalm of the Wild Built is a favorite for me. I'm reading the second one now.

I'm playing with oils and it's kind of amazing.

Yes, and consider if willing the small local shops owned by families just trying to scrape by. It's been a rough few years. I have small gifts I would like to get and this weekend I'm visiting the shops on Whidbey. My money will stay in my community, and will do some good for local families.

This morning, I applied for a promotion. I may not get it, but I didn't want to regret missing the opportunity. I had to squash that voice that said I'm not good enough and lean in to how hard I've worked and how much I've learned. I have much to offer. Imposter syndrome needs to stand down.
