Concerning my point about societal structures: You think there are only two genders, even nowadays, whereas I use neopronouns and have researched about third genders being used in different cultures since long before 1 BCE. Clearly we have VERY differing opinions.

Lastly, I will let you read this. If you do decide to answer, I will not engage with you anymore. Why? Because clearly, you and me have a completely different understanding of societal structures as well as what is considered fiction and what isn't, so this discussion makes zero sense.

Next point: If you want that much historical accuracy, go read a textbook. Not only will you learn something, but it will reinforce my point: I write fiction for a reason. If you don't like how I spend my time and energy writing my own work, feel free to write something of your own and enjoy it.

Okay. First off, if you don't believe me: Go learn about traveling merchants in the time of the Roman Empire, Völva, Wala and how male seers were treated, because clearly you lack the knowledge that I have gathered already.

I mean, come on, I have neopronouns in my bio. Did you really expect me not to respect others?

Also, I very clearly state as genres romance, historical fiction, low fantasy, and dark. What's not clicking for you? Are these tags too confusing?

I just picked up that you wrote about "propaganda".

Sweetheart, cute little special snowflake, you are at the wrong address if you try to yell "propaganda" at me just because I give readers the option to have any skin color and to be socially trans in a work of fiction, albeit historical.

If I wanted to be exclusively historically accurate, I would also have to, as an example, condemn a male MC that chose to become a seer later on to actually be displayed as weak and cowardly, or make them not able to choose to be a seer at all, which I didn't want to restrict.

Additionally, I even added a clause that explicitly states in color (quote):
Other choices and possible changes of actual facts/information about the historical times and people are made for flavour and for the readers' comfort.

So no, a trans MC will not fully transition and they will struggle a lot.
They might even hate themself. It surely will be the most angsty route you can go.

But I wanted to give the reader this option.

There will be no direct physical transition, which is why I also put trigger warnings like suicidal ideations, homophobia, transphobia, body dysmorphia and possible self mutilation into my masterpost on tumblr.

About being born male or female and only being able to actually live in the body you were born with - that's why it's a soft social transition in the confines of their clan. It won't stay like this forever, this is merely the prologue. And our world is not very happy and accepting.

Look at it from this angle:

One of their parents might have been a traveling merchant that fell in love an settled down. There were lots of traveling merchants, Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Nubian and others, that went as far as Scandinavia, and the Suevi also were a traveling folk for a long time.

Hi, totally understand your criticism. But I ask you to consider one thing:

This is why it is a work of fiction and not a historically accurate retelling.

I want to give the reader the choice to invent their own headcanon, their own story, while keeping things quite realistical.

As a German... I know how bad things can get. PLEASE don't let it get to that point. Do whatever you can to oppose your government, because it's on its way to become just as bad as mine approximately 85 years ago. Don't let history repeat itself AGAIN.
