It's a transparent object with volume absorption! And then I just tweaked the values and the specific shape until it looked good

This is an awesome character presentation, so many features! You can really tell the amount of attention that went into everything, so cheers to getting such an awesome finished result. OolayTiger did a really great job too with the VA work and really fits the character so well!

Hey thanks Rogue, appreciate the offer. Sadly, in addition to the GPU problem my computer started to have some random shutdowns so I can't even pull the file until I get a new one. I am going to be purchasing one within the next week, (thanks for the help @siberionhusky), that will help render times

It makes a noticeable difference avoiding loading the scene with the gui while rendering and just using the command line, it cut out an extra 30s for me, thanks for the tip!

I tried using the default GeForce Experience way to update them but I might have to try something else

I'll have to get creative on how to get this down, 169 hours is insane. Anyone have good experiences with any of the crowdsourced render farms? I've heard of Sheep-it and CrowdRender, and on the surface sheep-it seems pretty ideal. I'll see if I can get my project set up for it

Finally massaged my render settings as best I could, but unfortunately though with my GPU being unable to update to the latest drivers & crashing each time i try to render, I'm stuck with about 3.5mins/frame on CPU. Final frame count is 2895 so <2 weeks. Let's hope there's no ugly suprises I missed

Ive spent a long time on this piece and learned about as much as I can, it's become difficult to change things now so it's time to move on to learning a more specific part with a much smaller project. It ballooned up to 2 minutes! For now, here's a WIP before a few final tweaks and setting lighting

I have such a love-hate relationship with animation. I enjoy making progress bringing an idea to life, but when I cant get the controls to match what I intend, it ends up with a disappointing level of jank and taking even longer than regular posing. Oh well, just something to practice on my next 1

As I'm wrapping up the polish stage of this animation, I'm realizing just how over my head I was. Definitely should have started with some smaller projects, but I always like watching the longer anims anyway. This one had so many workflow issues that I will be a bit more strategic about next time 🤷‍♂️
