I spoke to a Venezuelan woman who was arrested in this raid and later released with her 4yo son. She said agents broke down their door, pointed guns at them and made sexualized remarks about Venezuelan women. When she returned to her apartment it was boarded up and all her possessions were gone.

It's harder here, but also it's not that easy to do anywhere. Countries with general strikes have been pushed to the brink already and/or have really strong identification with the orgs calling for it. It can take years of organizing
to get 50 people to go on strike, let alone a million.

A lot of folks came here to add other ideas, and I love that, but literally someone came into my mentions yesterday to say, "Americans should just stop going to work," and that's what I'm responding to. I'm not saying do nothing. I'm saying stop trying to "one weird trick" your way out of fascism.

We are about to have a primary care physician crisis, that's what the majority of foreign doctors are here to practice.

The 100K fee for H-1B visas (yearly!) is reported as a hit on tech -- but it is a hit on universities. It will make it impossible for us to hire foreign visitors, or foreign scholars into tenure track positions--I think almost 40% of H-1Bs go to universities and university hospitals.
