Even though I'm at a distance, I'm having compassionate fatigue. I'm exhausted trying to keep his spirits up. I'm exhausted from being terrified he's going to die some way, somehow.

I'm sorry that there have been mistakes that have pushed people away in your life. You were doing the best with the tools you had at the time.

You are constantly progressing and learning and growing. Not every person is meant to stick around for the full journey.

Recovery isn't always linear. Sometimes it's one step back and two steps forward. Sometimes it's two steps back and one step forward. Sometimes it's a squiggly indiscernible line.

Regardless, if you're putting the effort in, progress is being made, even if it isn't evident to you.
