I started a new job this week (the federal funding cuts to public media eliminated my previous one), and it has actually pulled me out of my two-month reading slump, which I'm pretty sure was caused by grief.

60% of the way through Neon Gods by Katee Roberts. It's trashy, but sometimes, that hits!

Just saw a glimpse of the beaver full moon setting this morning, and it's HUGE! If I didn't have to scuttle to work so quickly, I would have stopped for a photo. It genuinely made me do a double take!

I did that thing where I hyper-focused on a task all morning and then left the house without eating. And now I'm sitting in a car, nauseated, because I'm riding on an empty stomach. Bad Dallas!

These are awful, and what makes them more awful is the fact that no matter what you put down, the higher-ups already have their opinions and decisions made about your performance, so it's nothing but bureaucratic busy work.

I'm having one of those work mornings where I feel like I am hitting every ace. Multiple people and pings coming to me from all angles, and I am hitting each one with calm, a smile, and efficient professionalism.

Sometimes, like an athlete, you just know when you're in the pocket, and that's me!

Birthday weekend keeps getting better. One of the C-suite bosses left me tickets for a tennis tournament happening across from our work.

Not only did I get a VIP entry, they escorted me to a comfy tent with whirring fans, comfy seating, and an open bar.

The good thing about watching #Materialists right before bed last night was that Pedro Pascal visited me in my dreams, and he was so kind and cool. (And hot. Yes, very hot.)

After three hours of emptying the nightstand, organizing the contents, throwing tons of randomness out, cleaning under and around the darn stand, I was too hot to eat a late dinner, so I had ice cream instead.

One more workday and then I can really get into the nitty gritty of this packing process.
