How does one get into game jams? I've a few projects and want to force my dumbass(affectionate) to dial back ambition to a actually possible level

I don't care how much of a smol bean Itch is, this is not a viable platform.

Itch.io revenue sharing slider has been set to zero. I cannot in good faith give a penny more to a site shadow banning lgbtq+ works as adult. Nor a site choosing to comply with fascists and ban adult content really.

Psa, itch.io is complying with fascists, delisting lgbtq+ games. No plan to revenue share till they get their act together to say the least.

I'm discovering animation and assets are likely to drag my game speed down. Anyway, I'm getting back into mucking around with my pikmin like concept, and professional probies.

I'm looking through what I think is the oldest text document about DELTARUNE that I can find. This is one of the first facts about Susie. Even though this has never happened in the game, everyone just intuitively understands this as true. I won.

I'm thinking I'll get back into my game dev again, I hope.

Realizing somehow thiw game has just about a third as many downloads as views on itch.io, and I somehow missed it.

(4/x) simply because I ran into "Shit that's slowing me down" about stuff that I didn't even consider as liable to *be* a problem.

Course, given my pc, if I'm wondering how the engine level costs of inheritance are performing, I'm long beyond useful game dev and into bored crafting.

(3/x) add in stupidly modular gear, and suddenly your character's gotta check through gear for oxygen and shit, stuff that needs hefty caching for sure, on top of many what I believe is an np problem every round.

While I've largely shuttered it, it left me a deep seated appreciation of optimizing

(2/...x?) to be clear, I'm sure the answer is somewhere between zero(except maybr at build time) and negligible, but if your going into a project and realizing upfront its likely going to be an nightmare of optimization...(game in question is functionally a traveling salesman problem.)

Oh? I haven't been keeping up to date, but this would massively simplify a game I had larhely put on ice for now.

With how much I do similar data structures, I have wondered idly if there is a performance cost and how much to inhereting a base creature, overwriting methods, etc. (1/2)

Its a free little puzzle game, android, linux, and windows, with a simple premise.

Put out the fires in a turn based way. Nothing too fancy, but the art is drawn by me, and code by me.

Well well well! I'm making progress learning to rig and model. Lots of work to be done, but its enough to start testing it in godot for a feel for my next game's art.

For now, I prefer focus on my other game and assets for viewers, but stuffs in progress!

I don't believe my game is for every person. But, to a certain type of people, attuned a certain type of way, this game can reach a meaning beyond its appearance, and find a shape in your heart. Even if there's just one person that feels that way, I will keep making this game to grow by your side. See you again soon.
