London Loop - Capital Ring

Great to have lunch on the Nicky Hopkins memorial bench on my walk from Richmond to Sudbury Hill. Must confess I don’t know all the tracks he played on here. London, you were beautiful today #capitalring

Pictures from the first part of day 3 walking the London Loop back in January. Started at Bexley on a frosty, low light kind of day. But it was a beautiful start to a walk which began alongside the River Cray.

We would thoroughly recommend taking in part of the River Crane - not only a lovely walk in itself, but you can tick off a section of the London Loop!

Continuation of day 2 walk of the London Loop which took in a small ad hoc worship/memorial spot; a chalk stream - The Cray; an entertaining ‘switch back’ route over a railway line and then under a main road - A2; and some colourful graffiti.

@ldnloop-capring.bsky.social #LondonLoop over the last two glorious days we have finally completed the Loop, walking c26m from Chigwell to Purfleet. A massive thanks to you and your volunteers and business partners for maintaining the entire route. Oh and Yes, the end is very anticlimactic.

One of the really simple things our volunteer team do to improve the #LondonLoop (and the other routes we’ve adopted) is cleaning filthy waymark posts. This one at the start of Section 21 probably had 20 years of grime on it until Chris gave it a clean - and what an amazing difference he’s made!

Funnily enough we were talking about this at our project meeting the other day, and will give some thought to trying to get some sort of plaque or something - agree it would be really nice to have a spot for the photos at the end! It’s a bit anticlimactic at the moment…

Epic stint on the #LondonLoop yesterday, 16 miles from Chigwell to Havering-atte-Bower to Harold Wood to Upminster Bridge. Almost out of bandit country.

Getting busier out there too, even bumped into the same bloke twice. Londoner in Talking to Strangers shocker!
