I have a plan of doing what I can with the bison down, and then the same family friend gave me a cone of chocolate brown cashmere, so I'll make a big ass border to make up for any size difference 😅

I just don't like Atlantic Salmon. It's not as flavorful, it has a bad mouthfeel, and it doesn't smoke as well. Salmon from the Great Pacific? Good god almighty. Now, that is a piece of fish.

This so does not matter but my grocery store finally had smoked sockeye instead of just having smoked atlantic salmon, and I audibly said "yes!!!" in the store.

If Atlantic Salmon is all I have available, I'll eat it. But Pacific Salmon reigns supreme, and I will always prefer it.

Soooo soft and very expensive. Apparently it's really labor-intensive to process, so it's typically really spendy. I got insanely lucky to get something like this for free 😭

Also, just so we're clear - bison naturally shed their undercoat and it's collected and processed from that point on. No bison were harmed to get their wool.

Imagine my dismay when the best hook for this yarn turned out being a 1.3mm hook 😔

This is just a spider stitch shawl, and the yarn is bison wool. It was a gift from a family friend, so I have no idea who made it (unsurprising - most of my stuff came from other people)

Wish I knew the brand/color of this yarn, because it is so pretty. It's like sunlight sparkling on a creek. Absolutely love it but I only have this one ball 😭

The process and the result

How I achieve the Jasmine Stitch! I use almost every finger on my left hand, and I added a slowed down version at the end. That way, you can really see my middle finger hook that working yarn, rather than pinching it and hoping for the best.

Someone called me "ma'am" the other day, and I had to actually talk myself down from being offended. Immediately, I was like "how fucking old do you think I am, brother?"

He was trying to be respectful, but "miss" would do just fine. I'm only 26, I'm not a "ma'am" yet.

I don't take failure in textiles very well, so cro-tatting was an actual fucking nightmare for me. I could never get the stitches off the hook and it made me want to run head first into a brick wall. Needle tatting has been a gem to do, but cro-tatting? I'd rather die, actually.

I haven't crocheted in a while and I forgot how much I love front post/back post double crochets. They always make the best texture 🙂‍↕️

Yarn is Cléa by Circulo, which is 100% mercerized cotton. No idea the colors, though 😅

Our beautiful Pacific was stunning today, and I feel lucky to have gotten good weather while I was there. It's always beautiful, and getting over the dune is where you unlock all the good spots to ponder.

Seagulls are so cute when they're stationary and you forget about their personalities.

Someone tried saying the Roman Empire wasn't morivated by profit and I was shocked. I didn't realize there were people that misunderstood that empire so fundamentally.

The Romans valued profit heavily, and that caused socioeconomic disparities, leading to unrest. Profit was part of their undoing.
