High School math teacher who LOVES to read. I also love math, but reading is what I do for me. I love all genres and read by spells, sometimes I'm all fantasy, sometimes nonfiction, last year I concentrated on Booker award winners.

That's a good idea! I do the same thing, I'll start binge reading but I enjoy it a lot more(and retain more) if I can make myself slow down.

That's so true! Also I don't think I was making the distinction between graphic audio and regular narration. I tried listening to the regular narration. I can see where that would make a difference. If you ever get a chance Lincoln in the Bardo is narrated with a full cast and it's awesome.

There was a lot I couldn't remember while I was reading Onyx Storm, I'm excited to reread it from the beginning. I also wanted to see if there was any foreshadowing I could pick up on.

That makes me feel better, I didn't realize until I was through Onyx Storm how much I wanted to stay in that world with those characters.

I wasn't a fan of the audible version of Fourth Wing. There are so many characters and places I have a hard time doing audio.

Yes!! He was a highlight of Onyx Storm to me. I don't remember him. making as much of an impression in earlier books but I think I was focused on Violet and Xaden.

I just finished Onyx Storm. Anybody else have the urge to start reading the series over again? I think I'm going to start back with Fourth Wing. #booksky

I finally put together my favorite books of 2024. I love them all equally but I ran out of room to show all the covers because I am a poor planner. #booksky

A Lottery Drawing Included Four Consecutive Numbers. What Are the Odds? A Mega Millions drawing turned up 66, 67, 68 and 69. Is that unusual?

A mostly fun @nytimes.com article shows math of the lottery, except it starts with usual "you must be scared of math" trope. Is it that difficult to assume that people are reasonably intelligent?

SFWA members: Nebula nominations are now open! This is a great way to show love for the fiction that helped you get through 2024.

Positively giddy to see SOMEONE YOU CAN BUILD A NEST IN on Polygon's list here! And to see Shesheshen's grin peering out alongside some of my books this year, including The Fox Wife, The Teller of Small Fortunes, and The Book of Love.

Thank you, @tasharobinson.bsky.social and @polygon.com!

HMMMM very suspicious to see... a certain cover... with an hallucinated bird...

(Thanks to @mcflycahill90.bsky.social for shouting-out THE SIEGE OF BURNING GRASS! Ugh my TBR has just essploded again.)

I love this book and I'm so happy to see it being recognized! Shesheshen was the BEST character. I finished the book several months ago and I still think about things she said and did.

I loved Trixie Belden books! I don't see a lot people talking about these and they were great!

James deserves every book award there is, Martyr is good too, although it wasn't as engaging as James. The Women is super easy to read and to me it's one of the ones you read in two or three sittings.
