Museum display case showing ancient golden artifacts including an ornate wide-brimmed neck collar or torque at the base and an elaborate golden tree-like crown or headdress with intricate branch designs suspended above it. My (a white woman in her 30s wearing glasses) reflection is visible in the protective glass, creating a layered, atmospheric effect with dramatic lighting in the darkened exhibition space
That's probably the best picture of me even taken and it was from this random lady while I was minding my own business looking though the displays in the Archeological Museum in Thessaloniki.
What can I say? If the golden wreath fits...
A large window with shattered safety glass, forming a web-like pattern of cracks across the entire surface. A small sunflower sticker is placed near the top left corner. Through the damaged glass, a view of the beach, ocean, and cloudy sky is visible in the background.
I came back home to a shattered inner pane of my window.
The internet says metal enclosure/manufacturing fault and I have already contacted my landlady who is sorting a replacement out but I can still hear more cracking happening and I am kind of terrified it will collapse into a heap π¬
Just published! Supervised my student Chelsea's systematic review on foodborne infections in infant feeding.
I hope this helps improve safety protocols for vulnerable infants.
Paper is open access if anyone's interested in the full findings.

I have not written for @theconversation.com for a while but I am back taking a closer look at the evidence and explaining why most children already consume enough protein and why focusing on overall diet quality is far more important for their growth and wellbeing

11.09.2025 10:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have now watched @hankgreen.bsky.social scishow's video on physics and knitting and I am really curious to know if they had a single knitter or any kind of textile related expert in the writing team.
If not I offer my services.
Why am I getting adverts for advent calendars? It's August! π³

This weekend I am sharing stall C23 at the festival for Quilts with @tripsandflips.bsky.social talking about our interactive feminist community quits projects.
We have loads of fun talking to people from so many different paths of life who share the enthusiasm for textiles.
Art based? Oh tell me more about it!

Cutting PIP from lots of vulnerable people because perhaps they can microwave a meal is cruel.
Staying silent about a genocide is cruel.
And pray tell, why is stopping immigration such a priority for Labour right now, if not to attract Reform voters?
But Torsten, your message should not be vote for us because the others are a worse choice, especially when Labour tries to repackage Reform's agenda as new policy to attract their voters.
Labour needs to focus on their values and show they care about people's lives.
Sometimes I wonder whether academia is the right career path for me and then I go to a random place with patchy 4G but my phone connects to eduroam and, honestly, this is 90% of what keeps me in.

28.06.2025 22:41 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It was so nice talking about the quilt, crafting, motherhood, and community building again with a lovely group in Wyeside arts center! They also have a fantastic exhibition of paintings of the beautiful mid Wales countryside on so if you are around you should definitely visit!
17.06.2025 14:49 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0This photo shows a beautifully hand-embroidered white linen or cotton fabric, likely a tablecloth or pillowcase, draped casually over a surface. The embroidery features vibrant, multicolored floral patterns stitched in a repeating garland or wreath-like design. Flowers in shades of red, purple, yellow, orange, pink, and blue are surrounded by lush green leaves, giving the piece a cheerful and traditional appearance. The intricate stitching and rich colors suggest skilled craftsmanship, evoking a sense of vintage charm and homely warmth. The wooden tabletop in the background adds to the rustic and cozy atmosphere.
I swear Wales is the place where all your cottagecore dreams come true. Just found this hand embroidered tablecloth in a village charity shop for Β£2.50

17.06.2025 09:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A few days ago I saw one of those skits about online training courses where the speaker makes an attempt to interact with the audience by asking very basic questions and people answer in the chat and says things like "yeah, that's a good one"
I am currently living though it.
I have been doing some more (non humorous) thinking on this.
Musk must have known all along Trump was in the Epstein files.
It was never a deal-breaker to provide billions of support in exchange of power until he lost the power (and lots of money).
I am not a big Swifty, but this messy Trump Vs Musk break up feels like an opportunity.
Taylor Swift can do the best next move right now π

The key is to view things multidisciplinary.
Not just economic projections but a combination of public health, economics and social sciences.
We need to prevent people from getting sick first, before we expect them to work for longer!
This is a subset of the population. With the right support these women can still work and contribute to society but more flexibly. They can help with the (very very expensive) childcare. They might volunteer their time and wisdom to things they care about. So much more that is not paid employment!
