If you have a Right, it’s your personal responsibility to exercise it. Maybe pragmatically there are benefits to forced voting. But Rights and pragmatism don’t go hand in hand.

I agree that Rights do come with responsibilities. This might come down to a fundamental disagreement between someone born & raised in the USA and somebody in Australia. Which is why national sovereignty is important so that people can live and be governed the way they choose.

I spent 3 years in university studying chemistry and this has to be one of the most amazing things I’ve ever witnessed.

I would absolutely never call Australia a free democracy. Australians were criminal subjects to the crown when they started and now they’re subjects to a regulatory management state.

I can purchase fentanyl on any corner but to get treatment I have to jump through all sorts of hoops.

If Suboxone was available at a pharmacy without a prescription, millions of people would start treating themselves because nobody wants to be addicted to fentanyl. And it’s very difficult to get treatment for narcotic abuse.

The Trump admin has promised a massive fentanyl education push on day one. Which is nice, but as someone that has struggled with narcotic dependence/abuse, what they really need is medication’s like Suboxone to be available over-the-counter so they can start treatment themselves.

Nah, I’ll take an order of Prozac, Wellbutrin, Xanax, Adderall to pick me up, and Vicodin to help with the lower back neck and shoulder pain from poor posture…
Also, could you get me a vitamin D. dose to help with lack of sun exposure.
And some of those computer glasses👓…

As someone who works in Tech, I can tell you that this is a massive problem. “Features, Features, Features” even if they make things worse! You don’t want to be the PM sitting at the table that says “we don’t need this feature.” Cuz you won’t be at the table much longer afterwards…

Agreed, they abstained from practicing their right to vote, which I believe is one of our core duties as citizens we have in this republic.
Unfortunately, as a culture, we have strayed away from language that emphasizes our personal Duty’s for being a Citizen in this country.

How does Australia “compel” its subjects to vote? If you're being compelled to exercise your right to vote, it's not a right, and you're not living in a free democracy. You’re the subject of a state and without rights. A Right is a Liberty that can be freely practiced, expressed, or abstained from.

The only way to mandate voting is by government force. If you live in a place that will jail/fine you for not exercising your “Free-Agency” in a proactive manner you’re not free citizen, you’re a subject living in a tyranny. “The Country” does not benefit. The ruling party does.

I’m 100% confident that Eeny Meeny, Miny Moe is how 80% of the voting base chooses those far down ballot county/local candidates that they’ve never heard of.

My dad was in sales and he could Talk the branches off an oak tree and befriend anybody. Amusement parks were especially dangerous because he had all that time in line to start conversing with people.

They aren’t “Pathetic” or “Racist” they are people that have to get up early and work late to provide for their families. They are the people that grind themselves to the bone so all the wonders of first world modernity happen.
That in a nutshell is why Trump is in office again.

And if they complained, they were called Bigots, Racists, & White Supremacists (no matter their skin color) and this all added up bit by bit and they started looking back at Trumps first 3 years and said I want to go back to that. America from 2016-2019 worked better for me.

Then they saw the largest influx of immigrants over 4 years in the history of our nation. The red carpet was being rolled out for non native born individuals. Inflation was squeezing them, they saw small businesses shuttered in favor of national chains.

They saw attempts to cancel student loans that largely benefited people making upwards of $80,000 a year. While they were being squeezed tighter and tighter they saw what looked like a handout for the democrats largest voting base of college educated white women followed by white men.

Then Covid hit, Trump didn’t manage it as well and people voted him out. Joe came in and printed trillions that ended up going to all the typical special interest, NGO, donors.
Facilitating the greatest transfer of wealth into the hands of monopolistic corporations.

Most people remember his first presidency (except those with TDS) as a time of national prosperity up until Covid hit. Low energy prices, Low interest rates. People making $40-80k were seeing real income increases.
