Tis the season for unwrapping the odd, the delightful, and the deeply dialectical! Deck the Halls with Dialectics invites 12 brave (or possibly foolish) speakers to deliver 30-minute presentations via Discord that are fun, silly, weird, or wonderfully festive, followed by a 15-minute Q&A.

Deck the Halls with Dialectics is coming this December with a series of delightfully absurd, possibly profound 30-minute online presentations (plus 15 minutes for audience mischief).

I am delighted to announce that my abstract has been accepted for the British Postgraduate Philosophy Association Annual 2025 Conference. Incredibly exciting to speak at it again this year! My presentation concerns the epistemic treatment of sex workers in the academy.

The conference will feature:
BPPA Workshop – practical career advice and professional development for postgraduate philosophers at all stages.
Annual Masterclass – an in-depth session led by world-leading experts on a selected philosophical topic.

We welcome abstracts on any area of philosophy from postgraduate students enrolled at UK-based institutions. Individuals who have previously completed a postgraduate degree in philosophy and are between programmes are also encouraged to submit, regardless of current enrolment status.

The fear of the blank page is real! It’s strangely symbolic of the writing process, it may be blank but within that it holds all the work you will have to do. It’s a confronting experience each time but once you get past it the process becomes a bit easier!

I do this also! I never finish a drafting process until I have all my thoughts down. Then I use the process of deleting words as a way of shaping my argument in a less premeditated way. I can see what points I am gravitating more towards, then attempt to see what the line of my thinking is!

To the philosophers and writers of Bluesky, what is something you always do when you write? After each draft I personally like to re-read what I have wrote and create something like a flow chart on a piece of blank paper to see structure and flow of my arguments!

I knew I was “destined” to do philosophy in some way or another because I would overthink (unknowingly) the ontological states of motorbikes and street lights in CAPTCHA’s and having an existential crisis about whether or not the Ai could know the uncertainty of my answer hehehe
