Still haven't gotten a response πŸ˜€ but seriously. Any clown who still doesn't get what brock did wrong needs to test out that theory. Gurantee the detective isn't gonna say "well damn son it was only a text. I know you didn't mean it. We'll have you home before supper." #wwe #wrestlesky #brock

Appendix Table 4: Average daily population and per-diem rates in federal detention for U.S. Marshals and ICE, by facility (January and April 2025)

This appendix caught my eye. The table shows per diem rates paid to detention facilities. The US Marshals part of the table is new.

Again, really incredible from @jkangbrown.bsky.social and @prisonpolicy.org ‬ www.prisonpolicy.org/reports/jail...

So many important takeaways in this new report about jails and mass deportation from @prisonpolicy.org @jkangbrown.bsky.social 1) the scope of immigrants incarcerated *for immigration* is much higher than what is reported by ICE www.prisonpolicy.org/reports/jail...

Hiding in Plain Sight: How local jails obscure and facilitate mass deportation under Trump

🚨NEW: Local jails & police departments are playing a key role in Trump’s mass arrest & deportation agenda

The actual scope of this collaboration – and the true scale of immigrant arrests and detentions – has not been publicly available, until now 🧡

They don’t have to do any of this. All of the evidence is in Bondi’s office. They could release it and not cite a deal with her, but won’t. Why?

Trump signs order allowing forced hospitalization for homeless people Critics say the policy historically disproportionately targets minorities and LGBTQ people

Pres. Trump's executive order says it is about connecting unhoused people with treatment. Sounds good, right?

Well, the reality of it is, no surprise, much worse. 🧡

Ed Markey has been a good senator. But we need generational change.

There are a lot of amazing & talented people who could be in that senate seat, that are being sidelined & squandered.

The need for generational change in the Dem Party also applies to people I like and often agree with.

Louisiana upholds its HIV exposure law as other states change or repeal theirs β€’ Louisiana Illuminator Louisiana is one of 30 states with criminal penalties related to HIV exposure. Most were created in the 1980s during the AIDS epidemic.

These laws are horrific all around, and still exist in most states in some form. There are people in prison right now for the "crime" of being sick. Just an example of how the carceral state is the most violent for the most vulnerable.

Graph from 1978-2019, red line rises gently and falls. That per capita incarceration. Blue line rises much more relentlessly. That's per 10K crimes.

Just came across this graph I made a few yr and forgot about, and .... damn.

Red line is conventional incarceration rate: per 100K people.

Blue line is "punishment" rate: prison pop per 10K reported CRIMES.

While our rate per PERSON has fallen, our rate per (reported) CRIME? Still rising.

Graph showing that at the county-level, arrest rates for all offenses decreased by 20% after statewide Medicaid expansion

Here's the ugly reality of the β€˜big beautiful bill’: 10 million people will be kicked off Medicaid.

This will dramatically increase incarceration rates and make communities less safe.

Expanding Medicaid ➑️ fewer arrests.

Why states should change Medicaid rules to cover people leaving prison People leaving prison have sky-high mortality rates. Most are likely Medicaid-eligible. Making sure they are covered upon release from prison would save lives and reduce ...

On average, it costs $31,307 a year to incarcerate a person in state prison.

Meanwhile, annual average Medicaid spending per person is between $4,970 and $12,580.

It is far cheaper to care for someone than to incarcerate them.

The Senate is beginning to vote on the massive bill that would, among other things, kick more than 10 million people off Medicaid.

This would devastate families across the country who can’t access care, and it’ll also increase prison and jail populations nationwide. 🧡
