i wouldn't say i'm feeling particularly doomer, there's still plenty to do and plenty to work for. but bitter? oh yes, there is bitterness.

it's really weird turning 30 in the midst of America sliding into fascism. every single presidential election i've been old enough to vote in has included our new fuhrer in the mix. i've gone from being "too young" for conservative voters to listen to, straight to "too woke" or some such buzz word.

this is not a cruel or dismissive suggestion either. i said to myself in -checks notes- 2019 that i wanted to do some volunteer work. i didn't start pursuing that until 2021. i didn't find one near me until 2022. i didn't find one that fit my schedule until 2024. take your time. breathe. try it.

it's not an immediate fix for any woe, but i do truly endorse this: if you're scrolling and feel tired of the news & views unfurling, i recommend you:
- open new tab
- search 'community volunteering in [your home city]'
- open orgs of interest in new tab
- read sites
- contact for volunteering
