The point is A Levels are not the be all and end all, and most of the time do not reflect who you are, or the full potential of your academic ability.
I'm proud of you no matter what results you got - you survived sixth form!

It's #alevelresultsday today, which means reflecting on mine from 9 years ago. I was predicted BBC and ended up with DDE. I got into Derby through #clearing, graduated in 2019 with a 2:1. In 2022 I got into Kingston to do a #Masters and graduated with a Distinction!! And now I'm doing my #PhD.

Meant to share this last night, but after 12+ hours of work over two days, I finally have a reference Masterlist for my #PhD.
Everything I've watched, listened to, and read academically, fully Harvard referenced too.
Just need to crack on and finish up my upgrade supporting document.

Another sunny day, another day in London doing PhD related things.

The Freud Museum and Swedenborg House to explore their Quay Brothers Exhibition.

Off to see Flow at the local cinema tomorrow, so may have a movie day for my PhD too.

Another trip to London to watch The Quay Brothers films in the Kinoteka Film Festival. Sadly I only managed to get tickets for the first part as I didn't realise there was a second until it was all sold out.

Even with a migraine, I'm excited to see more Quay Brothers films, and for the Q&A after.

Final Thoughts: 3.5/5 โญ It's non-linear and labrynthine so lost me a bit, but the sound design was beautiful, the puppets believable as autonomous beings and sets creepy and eerie.

Hopefully this will kickstart my PhD motivation - I'm in such a busy two weeks that I've had barely any time or motivation for my studies.

Been trying to get out to more events that feature stop motion films. I haven't yet made it to the Quay Brothers in my stop motion viewing, so their newest feature is one of my first viewings - Alice in Not So Wonderland (2007) was my first Quay Brothers film.

Emmaโ€™s profile Emma uses Letterboxd to share film reviews and lists. 350 films watched. Bio: 26. She | Her. PhD student at Kingston University exploring Stop-Motion Animation, Sound, and the Uncanny.

Which if anyone wants to keep up with what I'm watching, you can find me on Letterboxd here:

I do watch films outside of my PhD. Currently I'm challenging myself to watch down my physical DVD collection (which is sat at 532 films, 40% watched) so Letterboxd will see how well I do.

Without even realising it I've watched 135 films for my PhD so far. If I watch everything on my spreadsheet (which I have a lot to update) once, I'll surpass 200 films.

Currently I'm on an Alice in Wonderland, stop motion and uncanny mood, hence a lot of Alice showing up.

THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS was released 34 years ago this week. One of the most commercially and critically successful crime thrillers ever made, the making of story is like having an old friend for dinnerโ€ฆ

Technically no, it's become my book to read on the train. But I am already 25% through it.

I'm reading at home 'I'm a Fan' by Sheena Patel. It's a debut, dark, and parasocial. Plus really short chapters and less than 200 pages.

๐Ÿ˜ฒ What is 2025 coming to? I'm reading a literary fiction book not a thriller.

Birthday book bonanza is going to benefit from an extra genre.

On a serious note, what are you reading?

Gotta be SSX Tricky (100% all the characters at the start of the year). Although SSX3 is probably smoother, SSX Tricky was my one of my favourite childhood games and it has a special place in my heart.
