A split black-and-white historical photograph featuring two portraits of Marie Curie. On the left: A formal studio portrait from 1895 showing a young Pierre Curie and Marie Curie standing side by side. Pierre, on the left, is a man with a short beard and mustache, wearing a dark three-piece suit with a white shirt, with a serious expression. Marie, on the right, is a young woman with her hair pulled back in an updo, wearing a high-necked dark dress with puffed sleeves and fur trim at the collar, gazing directly at the camera with a calm, composed expression. On the right: A later portrait from around 1920 of an older Marie Curie alone, facing the camera directly. She has gray hair styled loosely and pulled back, and is wearing a dark blouse with a distinctive patterned bow tie at the collar. Her expression is serious and resolute.
Marie Curie (w/husband Pierre) discovered radium #OTD in 1898.
It revolutionized #science & launched radioactivity, nuclear physics & cancer therapy. They won the 1903 Nobel in Physics & she became the only person to win a Nobel in 2 science categories with her 1911 Nobel in Chemistry. #WomenInSTEM
Wellβ¦ I absolutely respect that. But as a single person who lives and usually spends Christmas alone, personally I really like the tradition of pausing at the end of Christmas Eve, toasting the feast, and seeing colleagues near and far doing the same. A peaceful, joyful Christmas to you! πβοΈ

1. When itβs hard to go out: consistency beats motivation
2. When time is tight: something is better than nothing
3. Every day: Gratitude - there are people who would give anything to be able to do this.
4. If I miss a session: thatβs ok. Tomorrow is a new day.

01.05.2025 06:21 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There is so much to celebrate about the life of Pope Francis, and therefore also a deep sense of loss at his passing.
He truly set an example of faithfulness to Christ. And how amazing that he has died in the context of Easter with its message of hope for salvation and new life. (1/3)

Reader, the Kirk has been ordaining women since 1968! π€¦ββοΈ
From the Canons: βwhile the lectionary is based on the New Revised Standard Version, any version of the Bible which has not been prohibited by lawful authority may again be used.
Currently, no version of the Bible has been prohibited by lawful authority.β
I saw this debated elsewhere recently. I think the answer is itβs a modern innovationβ¦ and not universally loved.
There is apparently a Chrism Mass in the 10th century Gregorian Sacramentary, but no mention of renewal of ordination vows. @thurible.net may be able to expandβ¦
A street leading to the sea, with a yellow house on one side, a white one on the other, and beyond them, in the ocean and overhead, a rainbow.
Double half rainbow over a golf course and a shoreline.
What with all the toxic stuff going on in the world, Iβll take a rainbow whenever I can find one.
