The image was taken using the Deltavision Elite microscope with widefield and phase contrast microscopy on a 10X objective, then altered using FIJI. Changes were made to the LUT, as well as brightness and contrast.

This image shows a biofilm formed by a curli deficient Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium strain, stained with Ebbabiolight 680 optotracer.

Did you know? Marine bacteria such as Vibrio fischeri can form bioluminescent biofilms. These bacteria can form symbiotic relationships with hosts like the Hawaiian bobtail squid, and the glow can help camouflage the squid from its prey!

I gave a talk on how I used traDIS to investigate the important genes for plasmid acceptance in bacteria. I was also very grateful to be awarded runner up for best oral presentation alongside @gabastorga.bsky.social 🎉

We don't have any papers on conjugation inhibitors just yet as most of my work has been focused on identifying what we might be able to target. But perhaps once we have that information, then inhibitors that act on those targets could be explored. Hope that helps!
