Five years ago you could search: "when did the saxophone become an indication of sexy times in film" and you'd get somebody's well-researched article.
Now it's like "sex was invented by the ancient Sumerians as a way to fight ghosts, which they used to brew beer." (search instead for "saxophone?")

ANYWAY, did you know there's an extension you can put on Chrome that will connect with your local library system and when you go look at a book, say on AMZ, it will tell you if that book exists in the library system and if it's available?
It's literally called Library Extension.
It's frustrating. I've just started using the block add-on tool on authors who do it, because it started making me dislike Beatrice as a character. They can write what they want to write; I simply no longer read it.

A big one today with @mikecaulfield.bsky.social. It's about Jan 6th but its really about trying to diagnose what precisely is broken about our information ecosystem and why everything feels so stuck. It's about how the internet is a justification machine. www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...

08.12.2024 04:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Basically, just because you love something doesn't make it free of criticism, and this is a legitimate area where the show could have and should have done better. And it sadly had a ripple effect on some viewers who adopted the OCS opinion without real examination to demonize Ava instead.

A foundation built on rotten roots isn't going to magically get better until the rot is both acknowledged and cut out. 06.12.2024 15:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As mentioned, a lot of the "sins" of the sisters and the OCS are simply glazed over in season two, probably for narrative reasons and Netflix constraints. 06.12.2024 15:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0One of my lasting critiques of the series is that it never truly addressed any of this. By season two it's handwaved and forgotten, and Ava never got an apology for any of it. I maintain if the drugging and waking up bound to a bed scene were with a group of guys, it'd be the setup to a horror film.
