Wrexham v Ipswich Town: Look How Far We’ve Come! Another weekend, another huge game. I could get used to this! Ipswich Town, a massive club which has won the FA Cup and the Europa League’s predecessor, and jousted with Bob Paisley’s mighty Liverpool for the title in the 1970s and 80s, are coming to town, and the best part about it is we’re getting acclimatised to these huge challenges. After all, the way we’ve developed year-on-year, it’s merely a natural extension of what has gone before. The Tractorboys are a fine side in great form. Obviously this will be a great test, but there’s a unique context to the game.

I love saying that - it's because I've been doing the radio commentary for so long - I try to give an idea of where the action is taking place as often as possible. It still feels weird doing a commentary for both audio and video, but it's great fun!

I nostalgically cling to the thought of Elliot Lee making a triumphant return to Wrexham and adding to his legend. Let's hope this doesn't come back to bite us on the backside! Wednesday's squad is scarily weakened. In fact, it's at its weakest state of a grim season, as Barry Bannan left at the start of the week. “Ollie Rathbone, Have My Children! Please, Take Them!” I've had quite a busy couple of days thanks to a certain curly-haired midfielder! Ollie Rathbone's goal was enough to drive you crazy, and I certainly jumped off the deep end when it went in! I had just been delighted by Josh Windass's technical masterclass, an astonishing volley that illustrates perfectly the remarkable technique required to thrive in the Championship. And that came deep into injury time! It got me excited...but not as excited as what happened 98 seconds later! Rathbone, of all people, provided the emotional hit, in every sense.

Holding Out For a Hero Football, ultimately, is all about heroes and villains. Fans will develop their own club folklore, generating names of the past. and reviling opponents who have rubbed them up the wrong way. We said goodbye to a genuine club hero this week, but we also saw a new one emerge. James McLean's departure had, in some ways, an air of inevitability about it. He has not been a regular this season, although Phil Parkinson clearly saw him as a key player in the squad, had no qualms in making him captain when he was involved, and clearly held great respect for the Irishman.
