Joey Jones Joey Jones’ contribution to football in Wales, and particularly Wrexham, is beyond question, but much more importantly, he was a lovely man. I was so sad to hear the news that he had left us. He'd been ill for a while, and I suppose we knew the bad news was coming. However, nothing can prepare you for losing one of the good guys. Joey most certainly gave the lie to the cliche, “Never meet your heroes”. I genuinely can't imagine anybody feeling let down after coming across him, unless they were on the opposing side in a football match, of course!

Don’t Fall For The Rob And Ryan Copycats You really have to tip your hat to Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds. I'm quite certain that the success we're enjoying is not beyond what they expected. They've always made it pretty clear off the record that the Championship is most definitely a level they expected to reach. However, to have got there this quickly, I suspect, is a surprise to them. The only season we haven't gained promotion was the first season after the takeover and that was completely understandable. Phil Parkinson didn't arrive until fairly late in the summer as the club rightly made sure they made the correct managerial appointment, and as a result his squad wasn't really completed until a January transfer window.

Until recently the launch of our kit for the season was fairly low key. This was partly because we were so low down the priorities of our various kit manufacturers that there was no guaranteed date for it to be made available for purchase. Indeed, sometimes we’d play in unbranded shirts or the previous season’s outfit in pre-season matches! In contrast, the 2025-26 kit will be launched in our brand new city centre club shop. And Times Square.

Welcome to #WxmDataAnorak! I did A Level Maths. We all make mistakes. I was young and carefree and clearly hadn’t had that very British fear of numbers properly drummed into me in secondary school. Anyway, half the course was Pure Maths, which was all Greek letters and balancing equations. It was as much fun as it sounds. Frankly, I didn’t know my epsilon from my elbow. The other half was statistics, though, and I enjoyed that. It felt grounded in the real world in a way that working out the value of θ to the power of ɛ̝ to fifteen decimal places didn’t.

Paul Mullin’s Athletic Reset Could Work Wonders Paul Mullin left Wrexham as a hero this week. Am I being naïve when I express a hope that he’ll return at the end of the season, rejuvenated and ready to add to his Racecourse legend? While Mullin had a rough time of it last season, I don’t see how it was down to anything other than an accumulation of unfortunate circumstances. Missing two consecutive preseasons is bound to have a serious effect on any player, quite apart from the serious injuries which forced such a handicap onto Mullin.
