Rannick is a moron and is clearly out of his depth. But in some ways it kind of highlights that Grendyl may have no clue about how bad it is on Atoma.

Zola and Marrow have a better grip as to the situation, but are just smaller cogs in the machine, hence why the Arbities and Guard have arrived.
