AMBR joined allies yesterday to call on @gavinnewsom.bsky.social + CalRecycle: Honor SB 54.
Industry wants loopholes:
– Excluding packaging categories
– Dumping film + flex into recycling carts
– Calling plastic burning “recycling”
We say: No. Polluters must be accountable.

It is so important the recycling industry work on product circularity — where a bottle or container gets turned back into a bottle or container of the same grade. This way, if fewer products are purchased, fewer are recycled, & production more closely follows demand — reducing severe price shocks.

Miriam also emphasized a key AMBR tenant: circularity in recycling.

AMBR executive Miriam Holsinger recently spoke with Waste Dive about the ripple effects of the Trump administration’s tariffs on recycling operations.
In short, recyclers expect short-term increases in commodity prices but long-term decreased demand for recycled goods.
