And before yall sick PETA after me this isn’t because I hate animals or anything. I’ve just never forgotten the infographic I saw during grad school of there being more books with animal MCs than black/POC MCs and it’s always grated my gears.

Up until now, I’ve always thought that animal/dog mc books are very babyish and insult children’s intellect and ability to understand emotionally tense stories. Anyways I just finished this and spent the last 30 minutes bawling my eyes out.

people who use goodreads: jeff bezos owns goodreads and if you want a better alternative there is a black woman owned company called storygraph that you can use to replace it. you can transfer all of your data from goodreads to storygraph and have your mind be free of trumpie jeff bezos! win win. 💙
