Israel stayed in captured lands, so Egypt asked UN for help. Resolution 242 passed, but its ambiguity lasted for years. Israel refused to fully withdraw and be labeled the aggressor, and that lead to the Yom Kippur War, which ended with Resolutions 338-340. Israel returned Sinai but kept Gaza Strip.

While Israel was working for US, Palestine was launching guerilla tactics from Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan. 1960s, Israel began fighting back, Egypt joined, and the 6 Day War broke out, so called because Israel ended it with surprise air force destruction and captured the Gaza Strip and Sinai Penn.

Soviets signed arms to the Arab states, pointed at Israel. Polish Jewish spies got ahold of the Khrushchev speech attack on Stalin, gave it to the US who published it in the NYTimes. Israel helped create the schism between Soviets and China. Plus Operation Diamond, Operation Rooster, and more.

Many communists side(d) with Palestine because they saw UK forcing the Jewish cohabitation onto the local Arabs as a form of Imperialism. Local communist parties developed to oppose Zionism and promote Israeli-Palestinian unity. Thus the Cold War began with Isralestine caught between US and Soviets.

Israel controlled 3/4 of the land, and now it was their turn to do the expelling, especially when it came to Jordan and Galilee. 1950-1954, the Arabs took to the Israel courts to get their homes back. In at least one case, Israel lost the suit and responded by bombing the entire village.

The Arabs hated partition and the displacement it brought. A "civil war" broke out, which escalated to the Arab Israeli War/War for Israeli Independence/Nakba catastrophe. Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon joined the Arabs, taking the West Bank and Gaza strip, until an armistice was signed.

UK tried a peace conference between Jewish and Arab leaders, but it ended in a deadlock, and UK finally referred the problem to the UN. UK packed up their troops and went home. The UN partitioned the land and the Jews declared their sections Israel in 1948, recognized by other nations the same year.

WW2 ended. Europe now had thousands of Jews rescued from the camps with no homes. UK refused to let up the immigration restriction into Palestine, possibly because they saw the industrial economic advantages of the Arabs and didn't want to anger them. Revolts happened again, this time from the Jews.

WW2, Middle East went mostly untouched by the Axis. UK tried to use the conflict to enlist the locals, not as Jews or Arabs, but united Palestinianas. But Zions saw the UK concessions to Arabs as betrayal, formed terrorist cells like LHI, and assassinated the British minister to the Middle East.

1939, the British declared their obligations to the Zion Jews fulfilled. Now, they would start restricting immigration and land seizure to placate the Palestinians. This wasn't altruistic. Germany had just seized Austria, and the UK needed to focus. The Revolts ended just in time for WW2 to start.

Arab Revolts: 3 years of convoy attacks, nationwide strikes, economic standstill, house searches, night raids, imprisonment, torture, deportation. 1937, the Peel Commission came up with partition of Palestinian and Jewish states. This was not well received, and the Woodhead Commission retracted it.

Qassam was a Syrian independence fighter who fought the French until they sentenced him to death. He fled to Palestine and became a teacher of religion and literacy to the poor in the 20s. In the 30s, after gathering followers, he declared jihad against British colonialism and died in a fire fight.

1930s. Hitler arrives and Jewish persecution promotes thousands of Jews to flee to Palestine, both for safety and as part of Haavara, an agreement with the Nazis to leave Germany. The swelled numbers + economic inequality (poor Arabs/wealthy Brits) + al-Qassam's murder lead to the Arab Revolt.

There's always been violence here. But who started it since the creation of Zionism and the forced cohabitation? March 1920, Franco-Syria War, Arabs, who want France out of Syria and recently annexed Tel Hai from Palestine, attack the Jews there, who want to go back to Brittish Jewish state law.

"Take Baptism?" Like, there's a bunch of baptism lying around and you say, "cool, I'm gonna take one."

That's what the non-Palestinian Jews, the anti-semitic Brits, and the Christians were doing. What about the Arabs living there? The Ottomans removed free press before WW1. The press afterwards was ran by the British occupation. So they didn't have much voice until the Nebi Musa revolt in the 1920s.

Balfour wasn't Jewish. So, aside from money, why did he and so many British care about Zionism? Because they were Christian. Christians have a prophecy their savior will return when their god's chosen people (Jews) return to ownership of that land (Canaan). This doomsday theology persists today.

Most Zion Jews were Russian. The 1905 revolution had failed and many fled to Palestine, living on land bought by Rothschild, or the UK. WWI was expensive. Balfour sent the Balfour Declaration to Rothschild in exchange for his finances to help the UK. Thus many Jews after WW1 emigrated to Palestine.

Let's pause and step back. First, Zion is considered anti-semitic now. I do not use this with intention as a slur. First wave Zionism started mid1800s by Hovevei Zyyon. It was intended to help Jews in Europe return to their ancestor lands after the exiles. What started religious turned political.

OK, 1900s. Now we get into the modern day stuff. WW1, Ottoman Empire joined the Axis. The Allies conquered Constantinople/Istanbul and divided the Empire up, giving Palestine and Transjordan to the UK. The Balfour Declaration was required, homing the Jews alongside the Arabs. They didn't get along.

The Crusades, one of the worst atrocities Christians ever committed. Back and forth between the Arabs and the Byzantines for 2 centuries, until the Mongols take over Isralestine, and then the Mamluk Egyptians take it over, and then the Ottoman Empire takes it over from early 1500s to early 1900s.

Eastern Roman Empire becomes the Byzantine Empire for 1000 years, though still calling themselves Roman. During that time, the Jews revolt again and temporarily take Palestina back in the 600s, but shortly after, Arabia takes it over. It's the Islamic Golden Age until the Crusades start in 1095.

The Romans win, depopulate and displace a lot of Jews, and rename Samaria, Judah, Galilee, and Philistia into Syria-Palestina. Mid 200s, they become the woman lead Palmyrene Empire, but get retaken by Rome. 300s, Rome becomes Christian and the area is split into multiple Palestinas. Then Rome falls.

My own theory. Jesus constantly preached against Rome. He died around 33AD. 66AD, the first Roman-Jewish War starts. In those 30 years, it's believed his apostles were spreading the faith. I believe Jesus was an anarchist and his followers, using him as a symbol and martyr, incited the first revolt.

In Judah, the Hasmonean Dynasty is allowed to rule themself under the Seleucids. They begin taking parts of Samaria. Seleucid Empire gets annexed by Rome, and Hasmonean is out. Jesus is born. Samaria is fully absorbed into Roman Judea. The Jews revolt against Rome, 3 times, into the mid 100s.

Persia conquers Babylon and invites the exiled Jews back. Then Macedon conquers Persia. Alexander dies and his kingdom splits, giving Isralestine to the Ptolomies, who lose it to the Seleucids. This is the Greek Hellinistic Period, 300s-100s. Maccabees revolt, Jews sort of win, and we get Hanukkah.

100 years later, Babylon attacks. Assyria reaches out to Egypt for aid, but Judah betrays Assyria and delays the advance. Babylon conquers Assyria and Philistia. They go for Egypt but never get it. Israel is just gone, completely absorbed into Samaria. Judah rebels, and Babylon destroys them.
